After a long debate, GingerBrave and the others managed to convince Chili Pepper Cookie. With the utmost reluctance, she agreed to look inside her chests for something she didn’t need. Next morning, Custard Cookie III had three carefully packaged gifts in front of him. And a piece of something wrapped into a stained torn page from The Cookie Herald. The first gift was from Strawberry Cookie who had made an adorable clover bracelet. She explained that the white flower in the middle symbolized luck. Custard Cookie III snapped the bracelet onto his wrist right away: he was feeling lucky already! GingerBrave brought a colorful set of fruits and Jellies he had gathered himself, and Wizard Cookie’s present was enchanted confetti. These confetti could make even a colored paper crown sparkle like a real one! Wasting no time, Custard put his shiny crown on and filled his mouth with GingerBrave’s gifts. “I’ve never gotten such splendid gifts from my servants!” Custard Cookie III couldn’t seem happier. The Cookies smiled at him. Then it was the last gift’s turn. Custard Cookie III unwrapped the dirty newspaper and discovered a small piece of wood. And just when Wizard Cookie was about to roll his eyes and scoff... The birthday Cookie’s eyes widened in sheer surprise. “Chili Pepper Cookie, what is this? I’ve seen it before!” his tone suddenly got serious. Even though it was an old and withered piece of wood, one could see fragments of an intricate carving on its surface- a carving of a maned Bear Jelly. “This? Just an artifact from some old kingdom. Thought it was valuable, but it’s really just a piece of trash. Take it, it’s yours!” Chili Pepper Cookie waved her hand. The carving looked precisely like the one from the stories he heard in his childhood. Could this artifact really belong to the royal dynasty? The little Cookie could hold his feelings inside no longer. With a joyful shriek, he hugged Chili Pepper Cookie and spun her in his jumpy dance of excitement. “I will decorate my future throne with this fine piece: it’s gonna look twice as grand with it! You have my thanks, Chili Pepper Cookie!” “Erm... Always! Such a funny fella, you are...” she replied with a confused expression on her face. GingerBrave and the company weren’t quite sure how to react to this scene. After all, the birthday boy seemed to be happy, to say the least. And that was all that was important... Right? |
